E-Rate Title

E-Rate is the largest source of technology funding for K-12 schools in the United States. The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service fund makes discounts available to eligible schools and libraries for telecommunications services, Internet access and internal connections. The majority of SAFARI Montage products have been validated by the Universal Services Administrative Company (USAC) and are E-Rate eligible.

The FY2010 filing window for Forms 471 opened on December 3rd, 2009 and will close on February 11th, 2010.

SAFARI Montage products are classified as Internal Connections.

The SAFARI Montage suite of products continues to be E-Rate eligible with the following cost allocations:

SAFARI Montage servers have been custom-configured and optimized for high-quality video playback on the SAFARI Montage operating system.

  • If using the server as a WAN (for 5 or fewer schools), then the server is 90% Eligible.

Pathways SM - 95% Eligible
Classroom Device Control and Scheduling. Pathways SM is an integrated software module that enables districts to centrally control, manage and schedule classroom devices, including projectors, document cameras, DVD players and digital cameras. In addition, teachers can schedule and control district-based devices.

Pathways SM Classroom Media Controller (CMC) - 100% Eligible
The Pathways SM Classroom Media Controller (CMC) supports the ability to take any Pathways SM video stream and output it to a projector or other display type. It supports SAFARI Montage content, document cameras, DVD players or H.264 streams.

The Pathyways SM Kiosk Controller manages digital video signage in common areas, supports one to four simultaneous video feeds on a single display, and can run continuous streams of school-related news and events.

The Pathways SM Kiosk Keypad allows a user to select one of four video feeds for full-screen display on the Pathways SM Kiosk Controller.

SAFARI Montage Digital Encoders are versatile, rack-mountable MPEG encoders that can generate MPEG-2 and/or MPEG 4 AVC/H.264 encoded streams, making them ideal for educational applications.

SAFARI Montage Selective Video Streaming (SVS) - 100% Eligible
Selective Video Streaming software allows district administrators to manage which video-based resources are accessible to teachers and students, ensuring that only appropriate content reaches the classroom and that bandwidth consumption is controlled. SVS software is required for transcoders to work.

SAFARI Montage Live!
Small District License (1-24 schools): 75% Eligible

Large District License: 79% Eligible

SAFARI Montage Live! is a feature-rich, IP-based videoconferencing system that utilizes a server, the district's private WAN and the public Internet to facilitate one-to-one or one-to-many interactive group sessions. This interactive videoconferencing product enables educators to connect and collaborate with colleagues and students easily and affordably.
