Introduction
This document contains the release notes for SAFARI Montage Live-5! 5.4.2.3. This is a full release of the SAFARI Montage Live-5! System and the following sections provide details to its release.
System Requirements
- SAFARI Montage v5.9.29+ required for full support of all new features
- SAFARI Montage Live-5! server must be at v5.4.2.1 to upgrade to v5.4.2.3
New in this Release - 5.4.2.3
- General
- Instant, Meet Now sessions may now be launched directly without scheduling a session
- Improved e-mail invitations, including the ability to e-mail session invitations to all or only new invitees
- Invitations now support inclusion of an Agenda when SAFARI Montage is configured to send e-mail invitations
- Session Scheduling now offers the following Advanced Scheduling Options
- Hide User Count
- Hides the session user count and other participants and guests from participants and guests
- Disabled by default
- Play Sounds upon Entering Session
- Plays a chime when a new user enters the session
- Enabled by default
- Moderator(s) Auto Broadcast
- Auto-initiates broadcasting for moderators entering a session
- Enabled by default
- Only Allow Join by Invite
- Allows access only to users who have registered or have been invited
- Disabled by default
- Encrypt Stream
- Encrypts sessions via RTMPE when enabled
- Disabled by default
- Guests Join As
- Allows the ability to set the default role of guests joining a session
- Set to Participant by default
- Shared documents may now be downloaded directly from the status bar of the document content pane
- Users may now pre-select their camera before requesting to speak
- All modules may now be viewed full screen
- Users are now warned of potential performance issues when attempting to open five or more files at once
- Users now have the option to save whiteboard content as an image when closing
- Users may upload a profile image directly from a session
- Application sharing plug-in reliability has been improved and is now implemented as a service/daemon
- When screen-sharing, Mac OS X users can now share select content, rather than only the entire desktop
- The active speaker is now highlighted
- A user's broadcast is now ended automatically when the user is demoted to a user without broadcast privileges
- All notifications may now be cleared at once
- Administrators now have the ability to repair broken SML Organizer Accounts

- Recorded Sessions may now be viewed via iOS & Android mobile apps
- Mobile apps now select the front-facing camera by default
- Mobile apps now remain active when in the background (video is disabled while apps are in the background)
- When connected via 3G, mobile apps now disable video by default, leaving audio active
- Mobile apps now support scrolling of documents
- Editing of shared notes has been improved on mobile clients
Corrections
- General
- The SAFARI Montage server now reliably sends e-mail invitations when configured to do so
- Recordings now perform correctly when files opened during the recorded session are deleted prior to the end of the recorded session
- Recordings now perform correctly when the user initiating the recording leaves and rejoins the session
- Recordings now perform correctly when scrubbing sessions containing a screen sharing tab in the background at the beginning of a session
- Video playback during recorded sessions has been improved when scrubbing
- Improved messaging to users in the session
- Improved disconnection handling to avoid issues when reconnecting to sessions
- Session invitation time zone offsets have been corrected
- Invitee counts in SAFARI Montage scheduling views have been corrected
- Email addresses with capital letters and number are now handled correctly
- Mobile
- Mobile apps now load the chat history when users join a session already in progress
- Mobile apps now display whiteboard content correctly when closing and re-opening documents containing whiteboard annotation
- Improved headset detection and switching between headset and non-headset participation
- Android clients now properly resize when switching from full screen mode with the soft keyboard displayed
- Participant counts now update correctly as users enter and exit the session
- Video orientation now matches device orientation
- A large number of mobile UI corrections and usability improvements and spelling corrections have been implemented

Additional
- FAll SAFARI Montage products rely on well-configured local and wide-area networks.
- SAFARI Digital Transcoders & Selective Video Streaming perform optimally when network switches and routers (for WANs) are confirgured to support multicasting, now standard on most current networking equipment.
- Performance of SAFARI Montage may be enhanced with Quality of Service ("QoS") network configurations and/or packetshapers.
