Library Video Company and Educate Products Partner to Distribute READING RAINBOW® Programs to Schools and Libraries

Digital Versions of Entire Reading Rainbow Collection Exclusively Available on SAFARI Montage

Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore, MD (June 8, 2006) - Library Video Company and Educate Products, LLC, today announced a multiyear distribution partnership for the entire critically acclaimed, Emmy-award winning PBS children’s series, Reading Rainbow. Under the agreement, Library Video Company will distribute the entire Reading Rainbow library, all 148 currently available programs and five new episodes, which will broadcast on PBS this fall. SAFARI Montage, Library Video Company’s digital video-on-demand solution for schools and school districts, will have exclusive digital distribution of Reading Rainbow. Library Video Company will also offer the programs on DVD and VHS.

Educate Products, a leading pre-K-12 education products and services company, recently purchased GPN Educational Media, one of the largest national distributors and producers of educational and instructional media, including the Reading Rainbow library and 3,000 additional educational titles. GPN’s award-winning productions and instructional materials are used each year by millions of children, students and adults throughout the world.

“This distribution partnership with Library Video Company is an exciting opportunity for Educate Products to expand the reach of the GPN library and media resources,” said Dan Hamby, General Manager of GPN and recently hired by Educate Products to lead the venture. “Now students and teachers nationwide will benefit from having Reading Rainbow and its supporting educational materials accessible via the SAFARI Montage digital delivery solution.”

“Today’s educators are under more pressure than ever before to provide quality programming and instruction for kids,” said Chip Paucek, President of Educate Products. “With Library Video Company’s digital distribution of Reading Rainbow shows, teachers and librarians will have increased access to this effective and engaging educational series at their fingertips.”

“The Reading Rainbow library represents the missing jewel in the crown of the SAFARI Montage offering,” said Andrew Schlessinger, CEO/President of Library Video Company. He added, “Reading Rainbow is celebrated as one of the most beloved and popular children’s series among educators and students, and we are thrilled that SAFARI Montage will be the only video-on-demand solution to offer such outstanding programming.”

Launched in 1983, Reading Rainbow is one of the most-watched PBS programs in the classroom and features a library of over 148 programs. By transporting children to exciting, real-life settings, the show introduces kids to interesting new people and places, explores social and cultural issues and offers a close-up look at the world around them. Its dynamic, fast-paced, colorful animation and hip music entertain and reinforce these experiences and help children embrace positive reading habits, skills and attitudes. The show has received international acclaim, garnering more than 250 awards, including a prestigious Peabody and nine Parent’s Choice Awards.

SAFARI Montage currently comes preloaded with one of three core content packages based on grade range (K-8, 9-12 or K-12). All core content packages come with more than 1,000 titles of the very best educational programs from the world’s most preeminent publishers.

SAFARI Montage provides schools with digital access to a wide range of choice content for their visual instruction needs. Students benefit from the curriculum-driven programs on SAFARI Montage because the packages are fully segmented and searchable, and the instruction can be tailored to classroom needs. Titles containing Teacher’s Guides have free viewable or downloadable guides. SAFARI Montage is designed with extra bays to accommodate more quality programming. One of SAFARI Montage’s most exciting features is the ability to add self-created content. SAFARI Montage offers a more reliable alternative than streaming video over the Web, which degrades a school’s T1 bandwidth significantly. Teachers can “bookmark” particular segments for classroom use. The SAFARI Montage solution is easy to install in a single school media center or computer room, or as a district-wide solution. It can easily be expanded to accommodate more programming. All available content is indexed and is being correlated to state curriculum standards so teachers can seamlessly integrate the content into their lesson plans.
